About The Position

The Accountant is a part-time hybrid position combining onsite and remote work. The role requires availability during scheduled hours within the 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. business day and around key deadlines, including month-end and year-end close, audits, and designated Finance Committee or Board meetings. It may become full-time as organizational needs grow. Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Accountant supports general ledger, accounts receivable (the primary focus), accounts payable, reconciliations, financial close, grant accounting, and reporting. The role works with the Accounting Manager, Bookkeeper, and departments to maintain accurate records and appropriate segregation of duties. The Accountant follows GAAP, applicable nonprofit standards, grant requirements, and organizational policies. The position does not supervise the Bookkeeper unless specifically assigned. The role maintains accurate, audit-ready accounting records; supports financial statements, budgets, reporting, and audits; and helps ensure compliance with internal controls, grant restrictions, record-retention requirements, and information-security standards. It also collaborates with staff across departments, protects confidential information, and identifies opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiency. The position may provide backup support for financial reporting, attend Finance Committee or Board meetings when requested, and perform other related duties as assigned. The position requires computer-based work and may involve sitting for approximately 50% of the workday, with or without reasonable accommodation. Attendance at fundraising and other organizational events throughout the year is strongly encouraged. Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
