About The Position

The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Payroll Services is recruiting for an Accountant Technician 1. This position is located on the University of Nevada, Reno campus. This position plays an important role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time by processing, auditing, and reconciling payroll transactions. The Accountant Technician 1 reviews payroll records, calculates adjustments, and researches and resolves discrepancies related to compensation, deductions, overtime, leave payouts, retirement contributions, garnishments, and other payroll-related payments. The position supports payroll processing for classified employees, faculty, postdoctoral and resident physicians, and other employee groups. Using Workday payroll records and reports, the Accountant Technician 1 verifies employee information, assists with on-cycle and off-cycle payroll processing, performs payroll audits and reconciliations, and provides knowledgeable support in resolving payroll questions and issues. Requirements

  • Graduation from high school and two (2) years of financial records maintenance experience which included such duties as controlling accounts payable/receivable; preparing financial reports for internal management use; and reconciling complex accounts; OR Two (2) years of experience as an Accounting Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR One (1) year as an Accounting Assistant IV in Nevada State service; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience processing payroll.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word in a business setting.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel in a business setting.
  • Proficiency with Ten Key by Touch (A skills test will be administered upon interview).

Responsibilities

  • Processing, auditing, and reconciling payroll transactions.
  • Reviewing payroll records.
  • Calculating adjustments.
  • Researching and resolving discrepancies related to compensation, deductions, overtime, leave payouts, retirement contributions, garnishments, and other payroll-related payments.
  • Supporting payroll processing for classified employees, faculty, postdoctoral and resident physicians, and other employee groups.
  • Verifying employee information using Workday payroll records and reports.
  • Assisting with on-cycle and off-cycle payroll processing.
  • Performing payroll audits and reconciliations.
  • Providing knowledgeable support in resolving payroll questions and issues.
