About The Position

The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing accurate monthly financial records for domestic and foreign units applying generally accepted accounting principles. The position is responsible for the monthly close process, communicating with all finance personnel to ensure deadlines are met. The Senior Accountant compiles, analyzes, summarizes, classifies, calculates, and records accounting data for the General Ledger. The position also reconciles assigned general ledger account balances ensuring balances are proper, develops and maintains good relationships with Sales and Marketing, Engineering, Operations and Supply Chain providing financial support as needed, and supports budgeting process as needed. The Senior Accountant is responsible for year-end close, audit schedules and footnote material for annual report and researches accounting issues to ensure Zurn Elkay is in compliance with GAAP.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 3+ years of experience in general accounting required, manufacturing and corporate accounting preferred
  • Experience with ERP Accounting Systems and Consolidation tools
  • Advanced Excel knowledge
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to interpret data, recommend action and prepare statements and reports applying generally accepted accounting principles
  • Ability to design, modify and maintain reports for analysis and review
  • Ability to perform routine and detailed work and establish self-checking routines
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision on a variety of assignments with varying degrees of difficulty. Some evaluation, originality or ingenuity is required.

Responsibilities

  • Accurate and timely monthly financial statements. Participate in monthly close process and year end audit, insuring accurate financial statements are prepared in accordance with GAAP on a timely basis.
  • Accurate and timely account analysis and reconciliation of assigned accounts
  • Recommends improvements and desirable modification in procedures and methods
  • Coordinates and maintains the Financial System setups and structures
  • Special projects and analysis, as required
  • Responsible for maintaining and reconciling various balance sheet accounts. Can explain significant fluctuations to management or audit personnel.
  • Quarterly E & O accruals.
  • Responsible for month-end expenses accrual, Income tax provision, Sales tax allocation, HST filing and payment
  • CRA audit queries and resolution.
  • Performs functions of other accountant(s), as required
  • Support forecasting and budgeting for Canada region.
  • Support other BU’s in Canada region for any requirements.
