About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join a premier health system in Irving, TX. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing general ledger month-end journal entries for your assigned functional accounting team in strict accordance with US GAAP. You will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity of financial reporting for a large organization encompassing both hospitals and a health plan.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (Required). Proof of degree is required for submission.
• Technical Expertise: Proven experience in General Ledger Accrual accounting and a strong command of US GAAP.
• Excel Proficiency: Strong experience with advanced Excel functions.
• Analytical Mindset: The ability to not just "input data," but to understand the "why" behind every entry and its effect on the financial statements.

Nice To Haves

• Industry Context: Previous experience within a health system or healthcare environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Journal Entry Management: Prepare monthly journal entries, expense accruals, prepaid authorizations, and intercompany transactions.
• Documentation & Compliance: Ensure all journal entries have appropriate and relevant supporting documentation attached.
• Analytical Review: Evaluate the source of information for journal entries, performing variance analysis and asking necessary follow-up questions to ensure data accuracy.
• Financial Impact Assessment: Demonstrate a deep understanding of the purpose of entries, evaluating GL account usage and financial statement line-item classification to explain their impact on overall financial health.
