Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; and
  • Two plus years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • SAP
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to identify cause-effect relationships and interrelated business activities.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit all filings for each entity and jurisdiction as required in accordance with sales tax rules and regulations.
  • Manage customer exemptions and setup across all systems to ensure proper certificates are on file and proper exempt status is maintained in software applications throughout CTE.
  • Perform a quarterly review of exempt transactions to ensure transactions classified as exempt have underlying support in the event of an audit.
  • Develop and administer a process for customer campaigns to request updated information.
  • Work with operations and credit team to answer questions and resolve billing disputes and issues as it relates to sales tax and other miscellaneous taxes (i.e. heavy equipment tax, etc.).
  • Review all use tax accounts monthly for accuracy for all amounts accrued by AP. Including pulling invoices for all amounts accrued over $25, reviewing if use tax should be accrued for invoice, and reversing all entries that are not correct.
  • Perform a quarterly review of accounts known to be problematic for use tax and accrue as needed.
  • Reconcile all sales and use tax accounts monthly in clear, concise manner utilizing IPA automation
  • Make all monthly entries for Sales Tax Reserve for all entities.
  • Prepare Sales Tax Reserve accrual workpaper at beginning of year and review reserve workpaper quarterly to ensure accurate reserve is being recorded for the year.
  • Coordinate any indirect tax audits including sales tax, property tax, excise tax, and heavy equipment tax.
  • Review sales monthly and register for sales & use tax filing obligations, business license applications, or other miscellaneous taxes that may apply for CTE to comply with laws in applicable states or local jurisdictions. Prepare applications any subsidiary needed and make available for supervisor review.
  • Manage and receive all personal property tax bills and make payments to all jurisdictions via check requests, bank drafts, and pcard. Maintain payment schedule in excel and use to create accrual amount needed for all of CTE subsidiaries' property tax accrual. Record monthly accrual entry and prepare accrual to actual analysis for any year-end true up across all entities.
  • Review assessed values received from localities and reconcile for reasonableness to filed returns prior to receiving invoices to determine of appeals is needed.
  • Prepare returns and submit payment quarterly for all heavy equipment tax filings. Prepare annual applications for Heavy Equipment tax.
  • Remit excise tax deposits semimonthly. Prepare and mail excise tax return quarterly, including saving down all invoices and obtaining calculation support from operations if needed.
  • Utilize Alteryx for maintaining current workpapers used and develop additional automated workflows to improve efficiencies
  • Actively participate in LiftOne ERP (SAP) Discovery Workshops and Implementation as it relates to sales tax integration.
  • Team Lead for Vertex Series O Upgrade for LiftOne
  • Actively participate in workshops, make recommendations and be champion for change management to lead trainings for impacted users (credit team and coordinators)
  • Actively participate in CTE's (Construction and Power Division) testing, demos and "Go-Live" implementation for Vertex/DBS integration. Work closely with supervisor to roll out trainings and process change solutions.
