About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Senior Sales and Use Tax Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax accounting, with a focus on sales and use tax compliance, process improvement, and automation. This role requires a detail-oriented and analytical individual who can manage high volumes of data and provide technical tax research insights.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Sales and Use Tax in a high-volume environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Strong experience in tax research and technical memo writing.
  • Proficiency in invoice-level tax determination and accruals.
  • Experience in compliance and audit support.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (Infor experience a plus).
  • Experience with tax engines such as Vertex (preferred), Avalara, OneSource, or similar tools.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze high-volume monthly invoices and financial data to determine appropriate sales and use tax treatment.
  • Identify and accrue use tax on untaxed purchases.
  • Conduct technical tax research and document conclusions through memos and supporting analysis.
  • Perform detailed tax validation and compliance reviews.
  • Run monthly reports to identify untaxed purchases and ensure accurate remittance to the State of Florida.
  • Partner closely with Accounts Payable to review and validate invoice data flowing into tax reporting, improve upstream processes, and identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities.
  • Assist with sales and use tax audits.
  • Assist in sales and use tax filings, ensuring timely and accurate compliance with state and local requirements.
  • Support internal controls and documentation related to tax processes.
