About The Position

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) provides highway safety and security through excellence in service, education, and enforcement. With a workforce of approximately 4,500 employees throughout the state, the Department is leading the way to A Safer Florida through the efficient and professional execution of its core mission: the issuance of driver licenses, vehicle tags and titles, and operation of the Florida Highway Patrol. Requirements

  • Knowledge of State of Florida accounting policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of reconciliation process.
  • Skill in communicating effectively with internal and external customers, verbally and in writing.
  • Skill in reviewing, analyzing and reconciling data for compliance with regulatory requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Skill in using Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Ability to learn to navigate various processing systems (i.e., FRVIS, CRS, PALM, ORION, credit card/ACH payment system, etc.).
  • Ability to reconcile collections/revenue.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to identify problems, make and evaluate recommendations.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations using excel formulas.
  • Ability to work independently, yet cohesively within a team environment.
  • Ability to perform bank and account reconciliations.
  • Ability to maintain supporting documentation in an organized manner.
  • Ability to analyze and prepare ad hoc reports.
  • Customer service experience.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the daily reconciliation of reports to the Florida Planning, Accounting, and Ledger Management (PALM) system (i.e., Treasury) and credit card/automated clearing house (ACH) payment system.
  • Verifying deposits in relation to the cash receipt system (CRS), Florida Real-time Vehicle Information System (FRVIS) and/or Online Registration and Identity Operating Network (ORION) transactions.
  • Using multiple systems/programs and corresponding with local, field and regional office personnel, taxpayers, tax collector representatives and/or Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Troop representatives to reconcile, post revenue, and resolve collection/payment discrepancies to ensure the accurate accounting of fees received.
  • Processing requests for bank card credits received from department personnel and taxpayers.
  • Reviewing credit/refund requests received from tax collectors and vendors.
  • Cross-trained to assist team members, when needed.
