About The Position

The Accountant III role requires advanced accounting knowledge, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently while supporting the Finance team and company operations. This position serves as a primary backup for the Accountant II and provides cross-functional support within the Accounting and Administrative teams. The role involves assisting with daily, weekly, monthly, and year-end accounting functions, including journal entries, account reconciliations, inventory accounting, and financial reporting. Key responsibilities include researching accounting transactions, preparing journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, and maintaining fixed asset records. The Accountant III will also compile audit workpapers, assist with the annual budgeting process and forecasting, and research/process customer refunds and account adjustments. A significant aspect of the role is identifying opportunities for process improvements, assisting with system implementations, and supporting special projects. Cross-training and ensuring business continuity are also essential functions. Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information is paramount.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of accounting or related business experience required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting best practices preferred.
  • Experience with accounting and ERP software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary backup for the Accountant II position and provide cross-functional support within the Accounting and Administrative teams as needed.
  • Assist with daily, weekly, monthly, and year-end accounting functions, including journal entries, account reconciliations, inventory accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Research accounting transactions, prepare journal entries, and reconcile general ledger accounts while identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Prepare recurring weekly, monthly, and ad hoc financial reports for management.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and complete monthly depreciation schedules.
  • Compile audit workpapers and assist with internal and external audits.
  • Assist with the annual budgeting process, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Research and process customer refunds and account adjustments.
  • Research and resolve customer account inquiries in collaboration with other departments.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, and operational efficiencies.
  • Assist with system implementations, testing, and continuous process improvements.
  • Support the Administrative team with special projects and company initiatives.
  • Cross-train in designated accounting and administrative functions and serve as a backup for key positions to ensure business continuity during vacations, absences, or peak workloads.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial and employee information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) or General Manager.
