About The Position

The Finance & Accounting Department supports the organization by maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with accounting close activities, and providing financial analysis to support business planning and decision-making. The Accountant II is responsible for providing senior level financial support. This role will serve as a subject matter expert in a specialized area, which includes preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, and other accounting duties as assigned. The Accountant II solves complex accounting and finance problems and escalates concerns to senior leaders as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 4 years required related experience in accounting and finance
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask multiple priorities simultaneously, while adhering to strict deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Office, Adobe), HRIS systems, and other databases
  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) certification and ability to obtain and maintain.

Responsibilities

  • Own assigned month-end and year-end close responsibilities.
  • Prepare complex journal entries and accounting analyses.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and resolve exceptions.
  • Review and approve Staff level journal entries, reconciliations and reports, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and internal controls.
  • Maintain supporting schedules and documentation for assigned accounts and close responsibilities.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests, including gathering support and preparing schedules.
  • Support compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and standard accounting procedures.
  • Assist with accounting process improvements and special projects as assigned.
  • Serve as an accounting resource for employees and interprets accounting policies and regulations
  • Keep up to date and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as policies, and procedures
  • Able to pull and manipulate data for various ad hoc reports and other analysis as needed
  • Prepare, review, and analyze a variety of reports, accounts, reconciliations, tables, or statements to and from internal departments, financial institutions, and external agencies
  • Assist with reviewing budget-to-actual results and identifying significant variances.
  • Review operating expenses for completeness, accuracy, and appropriate classification.
  • Assist with forecast and budget preparation, including gathering data and updating supporting schedules.
  • Prepare financial analyses, reports, and summaries to support management review and business decisions.
  • Support ad hoc analysis and financial projects as assigned.
  • Collaborate with finance, accounting, and operational team members to understand financial activity and business drivers.
  • Assist with improving financial reporting, tracking, and analysis processes.
  • Other duties as assigned
