About The Position

The Accountant II will support various projects teams by completing financial modeling that will support decision making. This position will assist in providing timely and accurate recording of transactions for a complete presentation in a monthly financial package, various reports and analysis as requested by management. In addition, this individual is responsible for the protection of Val-Matic’s assets through proper recording of transactions, compliance with regulations and regulatory agencies, acting upon cost saving opportunities, and compliance with internal control procedures. Importantly, this individual will work with the Director of Finance to identify ways to improve the overall performance of the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting with CPA certification desired
  • Over five years working experience preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Efficiency in Excel, EPICOR, and Power Query preferred.
  • Working knowledge of manual and automated accounting systems and well-developed financial analysis capabilities
  • Sound administrative skills
  • Strong analytical, numeric, and reasoning abilities
  • Advocating the team concept
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal
  • Results and profit oriented

Responsibilities

  • Costing of new products
  • Daily Bank Reconciliation
  • Assist in the identification of potential income improvement ideas, developing supporting plans to implement, and monitoring results
  • Collect and analyze financial information for assigned accounts, product lines, and business units to track progress against company goals
  • Report current or expected financial performance and create financial models to guide decision making
  • Assist with the implementation of company plans and goals to maximize growth and income
  • Assist with the month-end close process, including journal entries, variance analysis, account reconciliation, and financial reporting
  • Assist with the financial justification for new equipment & other tasks related to capital expenditures
  • Provide data (e.g. Kinetic Power Query) for ad hoc analysis
  • Prepare special reports and analysis as required.
  • Reporting on variances to prior year
  • Complete monthly reporting that details trends in various areas of the business
  • Develop methods for handling new reporting requirements, analysis, internal control and audit requirements
  • Ensure that records are maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles
  • Assist with data need from other departments
  • Maintain and update the company’s cost accounting system and methods.
  • Ensure company’s ERP system accurately accounts for sales, cost of sales, and inventory
  • Assist purchasing, as needed, to obtain the best price and terms with suppliers. Ensure compliance to agreed-upon supplier price and terms in accordance with company policy and internal controls
  • Assist production team with analysis on productivity, labor reporting accuracy, and provide other production-related insights
  • Perform the annual cost roll
  • Investigate job variance and regular review of PPV from new purchase orders
