About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant II to support day-to-day financial operations. The ideal candidate will assist with general ledger maintenance, month-end close activities, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and compliance with accounting standards. This role requires strong analytical skills, accuracy, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments. The Accountant II is expected to assist in various ad hoc reporting requests as well as various departmental projects and initiatives. This position reports to the Manager- Accounting, and will be located in our Houston, TX office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting from a certified institution.
  • 1-3 years of experience.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (formulas, pivot tables, etc.).
  • Displays working knowledge of GAAP reporting.
  • Excellent critical thinking as well as analytical skills.
  • Possesses exceptional organizational skills and is an effective time manager and multi-tasker.
  • Displays knowledge of financial accounting software programs and an aptitude for learning new software applications.
  • Displays good interpersonal skills along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft GP

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the monthly maintenance of the fixed asset system including recording additions, disposals, depreciation and any modifications to asset locations.
  • Prepare and maintain journal entries and general ledger accounts
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
  • Perform bank, credit card, and account reconciliations
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
  • Prepare financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation
  • Analyze financial data and investigate discrepancies
  • Assist with audits by preparing requested documentation and schedules
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls
  • Maintain organized accounting records and documentation
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Post daily cash transactions
  • Maintain prepaids and recurring entries monthly entries
  • Assist with reviewing approving daily A/P and A/R batches for posting
  • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve accounting-related issues
