About The Position

The Accountant II is responsible for performing intermediate to advanced accounting functions to support the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this role contributes to the integrity of the organization’s financial reporting by maintaining general ledger accounts, performing account reconciliations, analyzing financial data, and supporting the monthly close process. The Accountant II works closely with cross-functional teams to review financial results, investigate variances, and provide insights into the company’s financial performance. This position requires a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, analytical problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. The role also supports process improvements and helps ensure compliance with internal controls and organizational policies.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting and management accounting principles, including variance analysis, forecasting support, and financial statement interpretation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively present financial information to management and collaborate across departments
  • Good knowledge of ERP Systems
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff while maintaining accountability for deliverables
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 5-7 years of accounting experience
  • Experience with US GAAP accounting and external reporting process
  • Experience with a top tier ERP system (Infor is what we use and is preferable)
  • Experience with Sales Tax Filing
  • Experience presenting ledger account reconciliations
  • Experience with balance sheet analysis
  • Experience with profit/loss accounts activity
  • Experience maintaining fixed assets subledger

Responsibilities

  • Manage the monthly close process including maintaining the close calendar, coordinating deliverables across departments, and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Prepare and review complex general ledger journal entries, maintain supporting documentation, and ensure accuracy of financial records
  • Perform and review account reconciliations, researching and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Analyze balance sheet and Profit & Loss account activity, identifying unusual trends, errors, or variances and recommending corrective actions.
  • Develop, document, and improve accounting procedures and internal controls to increase efficiency, consistency, and compliance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Research and interpret complex accounting issues and provide recommendations to management.
  • Ensure confidentiality and integrity of financial information, safeguarding the organization’s financial data.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in relevant professional organizations.
  • Oversee and maintain the fixed assets subledger, including capitalization, depreciation, asset disposals, and reconciliation to the general ledger.
  • Work closely with the IT department to maintain and improve management information systems and ERP.
  • Support the preparation of external reporting, audits, and compliance requirements, including documentation and reconciliation support.
  • Analysis of balance sheet & Profit/Loss accounts activity for identification of unusual or erroneous postings
  • Perform special projects, ad-hoc analysis, and other responsibilities as assigned by management.
