About The Position

As an Accountant II supporting the Controllership accounting function, you will have the opportunity to be part of an incredible team that supports our growing and complex global business. Our teams lead the accounting for multiple disciplines within the organization, including retail store occupancy, investments, compensation, and corporate treasury and risk functions. This individual contributor will support accounting close and financial reporting activities, develop reporting and analyses to maintain accuracy of the financial statements and support business partners, implement and document new and current accounting processes, and prepare deliverables to support SEC filings. You will collaborate with teams across Starbucks to help grow our existing business and support new initiatives as well as prepare quarterly financial reporting deliverables for respective areas.

Requirements

  • Experience in accounting at a professional level, including journal entries, account reconciliation, reporting and analysis or equivalent experience. (1+ years)
  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred.
  • Experience using an ERP system and business intelligence and reporting tools (such as Hyperion, Anaplan, and Oracle) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Be an integral part of the success of the team – You will be responsible for preparing journal entries and/or financial statement disclosures for accuracy and compliance with company policies and applicable accounting principles. You will prepare account reconciliations.
  • Maintain and develop various accounting systems and processes – You will be responsible for maintaining and developing the various systems in your area and will have the opportunity to recommend and implement improvements to existing systems and processes.
  • Support month and quarter end close – You will perform trend and variance analysis as part of month- and quarter-end close. You will support quarterly earnings reporting and ongoing budget and forecasting processes and effectively produce ad-hoc reporting and analysis to support business operational, financial and strategic decisions.
  • Enjoy working on an energetic, fun team and have a clear ability to drive the business forward as part of a highly collaborative team, while acting in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.
