About The Position

This is a temporary position with the Department of Environmental Quality, located at 217 West Jones Street, Raleigh - Wake County. The position is within the Financial Services Division (FSD) and is responsible for managing the accounts payable team of 4 accounting technicians and providing general accounts payable support. The successful candidate will oversee the accounts payable processes in the North Carolina Financial System (NCFS) and will work independently, responding to management assignments and division questions. This role also involves setting accounts payable policies and procedures, tracking and reporting payment timeliness, analyzing trends to improve performance, developing and providing training, and ensuring a positive customer experience. The position requires timely and accurate processing of invoices, grant payments, and employee expense reimbursements, as well as researching and solving problems related to NCFS payments, and ensuring compliance with state and departmental policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, or a degree in business administration, finance or public administration or a related discipline from an appropriately accredited institution with 18 semester hours of accounting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities
