About The Position

The Staff Accountant I is responsible for supporting the organization’s financial operations through accurate financial reporting, account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities. This role plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, supporting budgeting and audit processes, and ensuring timely and accurate financial data across the organization. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Understanding of accounting terminology, financial reporting concepts, and accounting tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with executives, board members, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with sensitive financial information.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of accounting or related financial experience preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily, weekly, and monthly accounting activities to maintain accurate general ledger records.
  • Support the month-end close process, including preparation and posting of manual journal entries.
  • Perform account reconciliations to ensure transactions are properly recorded and discrepancies are identified and resolved timely.
  • Monitor and analyze financial variances to identify trends, inconsistencies, and potential issues.
  • Maintain detailed and organized documentation of accounting entries, reconciliations, and financial reports to support audit readiness and compliance.
  • Assist with preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Support quarterly and annual external audit requests and related documentation needs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial activity.
  • Assist with ad hoc accounting projects and help resolve issues arising from day-to-day accounting operations.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and assist with process documentation initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the CFO.
