Accountant (Bookkeeping)

Suger.ioVancouver, BC
$25 - $30Remote

About The Position

Suger helps B2B software companies sell through cloud marketplaces like AWS, Azure, GCP, Oracle, Alibaba, and Snowflake. Marketplace sales are operationally complex, involving pricing, contracting, billing, revenue recognition, and compliance across multiple cloud providers. Suger simplifies this complexity with an API-first revenue platform for quote-to-cash and marketplace workflows. Launched in 2022, Suger serves over 250 B2B customers, including enterprises like Snowflake and Intel, and startups like Glean and Vanta. As a Series A company backed by Threshold VC, Craft Ventures, Intel Capital, and Y Combinator, Suger is seeking a part-time Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day financial record-keeping. This is an execution-focused role, not a strategic finance position, requiring close collaboration with founders and the operations team to ensure accurate, reconciled, and audit-ready books. The role demands comfort with ambiguity and building lightweight processes in a fast-moving startup environment. This is a part-time remote role (15-20 hours/week), with occasional in-person meetings as needed.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, ideally in a startup or SaaS environment
  • Proficiency in accounting software
  • Solid understanding of GAAP fundamentals and standard bookkeeping practices
  • High attention to detail - you catch errors others miss
  • Self-directed and reliable: able to manage your own schedule and deadlines without close supervision
  • Comfortable working remotely and asynchronously with a distributed team

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with multi-currency transactions or US/Canada cross-border financials
  • Familiarity with SaaS revenue recognition or subscription billing models
  • CPA designation or working toward one

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger entries across all accounts
  • Process accounts payable and receivable, including vendor payments and customer invoicing
  • Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports for internal review
  • Support external accountants during tax filings and audits by organizing and providing required documentation
  • Track and categorize expenses across departments
  • Identify and flag discrepancies proactively before they become issues

Benefits

  • Compensation: $25-$30 CAD/hr, commensurate with experience (based on Vancouver market rates for part-time bookkeeping roles)
  • Flexible, fully remote schedule - work when it works for you
  • Flat org structure with real product-market fit - your work directly supports a fast-scaling business
