About The Position

D.R. Horton, Inc., the largest homebuilder in the U.S., was founded in 1978 and is a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange. It is engaged in the construction and sale of high quality homes designed principally for the entry-level and first time move-up markets. The Company also provides mortgage financing and title services for homebuyers through its mortgage and title subsidiaries. The right candidate will apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. Assists in maintaining budgets and projected costs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting from a four-year college or university
  • Three to five years of related experience and/or training
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to accurately and efficiently process and record large volumes of data
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills; ability to work well with all levels of personnel
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
  • Proficiency with MS Office and excel
  • Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday

Nice To Haves

  • CPA preferred
  • JDE experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare sales journals and review gross profit margins for each sales contract
  • Review job costs for budget variances, cost code errors, and other posting errors on invoices and resolve with proper departments
  • Prepare and record journal entries, allocations, and accruals
  • Conduct monthly close procedures and ensure that deadlines are met
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet and general ledger account reconciliation and maintain supporting schedules
  • Post bank deposits and create related cash receipt journals
  • Process timely payment of property taxes and post monthly expense accrual
  • Track fixed asset purchases and post acquisition and disposal entries
  • Prepare monthly sales tax report and ensure timely tax filing and payment
  • Responsible for various weekly and monthly reports, including sales, margins, inventory and community performance
  • Ensure accuracy in vendors, payments, job numbers and cost codes
  • Track and maintain subcontractor lien notices and waivers ensure compliance
  • Coordinate vendor setup and monitor compliance documentation
  • Enter, review, and post AP and vendor payment batches
  • Provide guidance and support on accounting tasks and procedure for team members
  • Coordinate and support division departments with necessary tasks and reporting
  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
