About The Position

Accountant 4 performs advanced/diversified professional accounting duties. This role involves researching and resolving system problems related to posting from Accounts Payable, Payroll, MIS, and CAS to the general ledger. The position also acts as a Project Leader on large assignments, which includes scheduling, assigning, and reviewing the work of lower-level Accountants. Additionally, the Accountant 4 will develop and enhance complex personal computer applications for departmental operations and technical analysis, such as downloading, forecasting, modeling, and sub-ledger design, and integrate mainframe accounting and control systems like position control, on-line budget, closing, and general ledger. The role also includes verifying journal entries and invoices for reimbursable construction projects, overhead rates, and other items, and performing federal tax research related to tuition reimbursements, automobile allowance, employee benefits, FICA taxes, and other items. The Accountant 4 must stay current with and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations, and be aware of new software applications. The position requires preparing various reports and special studies as needed, and performing other duties as directed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • 5 years accounting experience with CPA or 8 years accounting experience.
  • A P2 rating for 2 consecutive years as a level III or a P1 rating in last year as a level III.
  • Occupationally significant combination of ability to concentrate for long periods; organizational ability; speed and accuracy in making numerical determinations; memory for detail; analytical skills; and ability to apply principles of accounting, statistics and fiscal management.
  • Valid driver's license from state of residence.

Responsibilities
