This is a hybrid position and allows for one day of remote work per week based on business needs. Do you want to be an integral member of our Emergency Management Finance team? This position provides unique opportunities to learn operational and programmatic tactics, how they fit into the big picture, and how the finance and administration division supports critical objectives during highly fluid events. At the heart of the Pierce County Department of Emergency Management is a commitment to communication, coordination, and collaboration. We work closely with our stakeholders and communities to prepare for, respond to, mitigate against, and recover from disasters — always with a focus on saving lives and protecting property. We’re proud to be one of the first counties in the nation to be accredited through the Emergency Management Accreditation Program (EMAP), and we’ve maintained that high standard through two successful reaccreditations. This achievement highlights our role as a leader in emergency management, not just in Pierce County, but throughout the Puget Sound, Washington State, and across the United States. This success is driven by a team of passionate and dedicated individuals who are committed to sustaining our network infrastructure and providing the best customer service to our stakeholders. You will be joining a larger team in Emergency Management committed to the full cycle of emergency management: planning, preparedness, response, mitigation, and recovery. By learning the core business lines for each of the divisions and the available funding streams to support the business lines. Possessing critical thinking and independent judgment skills in a fast-paced, sometimes rapidly changing, stressful emergency response environment will help you be successful. Throughout the onboarding process, you will meet with the Supervisor, teams, and the admin team regularly to discuss expectations, set goals, identify priorities, and gain familiarity with current policies, procedures, and strategic measures. Pierce County offers professional development through our leadership development program, robust online learning, and other training opportunities throughout your career to ensure your success. This position has multiple career growth and promotional opportunities in Pierce County to build a great career.
