About The Position

The Accountant 1, Property Control, supports the Special Revenue Department in the Business Division. DISTRICT EXPECTATIONS: All district employees must: · Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance. Requirements

  • Business experience (finance, bookkeeping, auditing, etc.) may substitute for college course work on the basis of two (2) years of experience for each year of required college.
  • Reads and interprets general business and professional journals, technical procedures, or regulations.
  • Writes reports, correspondence, and manuals.
  • Effectively presents and responds to questions from managers and the public.
  • Calculates figures and amounts, such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Applies concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Microsoft Office, district data systems.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up accounting units in district data systems; reports expenditures; approves payroll for the department.
  • Provides detailed information for monthly budget amendment.
  • Monitors district data systems.
  • Serves as office manager, and provides support to supervisor.
  • Handles cash drawdowns, cash reconciliation, and agency expense reporting.
  • Maintains and stays current with knowledge of district data systems.
  • Possess basic knowledge of finance, including accounts payable, budget, procurement, payroll, accounting, special revenue, property control, general ledger, all subsystems, and year-end procedures.
  • Prepares accounting and fiscal reports, statements, summaries, and journal entries; meets deadlines.
  • Reconciles and balances financial statements and accounting records.
  • Serves as a liaison between schools and the Business Division.
  • Deals with difficult, sensitive, and confidential issues.
  • Balances various job responsibilities/duties and is detail-oriented.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.
  • Understands financial targets and budgeted goals.
  • Incorporates financial analysis into strategic decisions.
  • Implements operating budget flexibly to address changing priorities.
