The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is responsible for providing high-quality drinking water, managing wastewater and storm water, and reducing pollution. The Bureau of Engineering Design & Construction (BEDC) manages a large portfolio of capital projects aimed at upgrading and maintaining the city’s critical water and wastewater infrastructures. The Special Projects Capital Program (SPCP) within BEDC is seeking to hire three Civil Engineers Level 1 to serve as Accountable Managers. These Accountable Managers will oversee and support the construction of wastewater pumping stations, contribute to Design-Build initiatives, and potentially work on other water and wastewater projects. They will direct the planning, design, and construction of major capital projects, manage project teams, and ensure projects meet goals and milestones. Responsibilities include preparing and negotiating contract modifications, providing guidance to subordinates, ensuring Environmental Health & Safety compliance, coordinating with support divisions, and managing project delivery procedures. The Accountable Managers must be capable of recognizing project needs, sustaining effort from conception to completion, communicating effectively with stakeholders, resolving issues, mitigating risks, managing project quality, and monitoring key performance indicators. They will report directly to the Deputy Portfolio Manager.
