Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 4+ years of public relations or communications agency experience.
  • Proven experience executing award-winning, dynamic, and unique media relations campaigns across different sectors.
  • Proven experience learning new skills and becoming an expert in a diverse range of tactics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple accounts simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of core public relations tools and tactics, and how they are used.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior agency experience is preferred.
  • Teaching junior staff how to execute with efficiency and delivering results.

Responsibilities

  • Play a lead day-to-day role in the planning and execution of all facets of work conducted on behalf of clients.
  • Generate and proactively deliver novel and high-impact creative counsel that achieves client goals.
  • Develop communications frameworks, plans, messages, and materials, with support from junior staff as appropriate.
  • Review and provide constructive input to written materials produced by junior staff to ensure the highest quality work product.
  • Lead and/or support the execution of various media relations, social media, and events.
  • Pitch high-level media outlets and cultivate relationships with target media/reporters, including local and national business media and trade media (print, broadcast, and online).
  • Provide guidance to junior staff while coordinating the daily/tactical elements of client account work.
  • Independently and proactively source and provide account team leads with new ideas/opportunities.
  • Develop and nurture productive client relationships.
  • Regularly and efficiently update account team leads and the Senior Management Team about the status of ongoing client account work, ensuring they are informed prior to client calls/meetings.
  • Provide support, as needed, in managing issues/crises, including drafting communications materials and potentially managing junior staff on media/social media monitoring.
  • Use AI tools for appropriate work for efficiency and quality, following RP’s policies.
  • Evaluate AI-generated materials for strategy alignment.
  • Identify AI-enabled efficiencies for client work and internal processes.
  • Mentor junior staff by providing candid, timely, and constructive feedback on a regular basis.
  • Contribute to employee reviews by providing observations on strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Proactively and professionally surface performance issues of junior staff to the Senior Management Team.
  • Contribute to a positive workplace by identifying ways to recognize staff outside of formal promotions/pay raises.
  • Help to identify quality candidates for employment at the firm.
  • Contribute to the development of new business proposals and presentations, including research, strategy, tactics, and quality assurance.
  • When appropriate, participate in/present during formal new business pitches.
