About The Position

RH Strategic is a public relations agency with clients in technology, cybersecurity, healthcare, government, sustainability, and education. They focus on making their clients' stories impactful. This role is for an Account Supervisor, Media Relations (Healthcare) in Washington, D.C. The position requires an understanding of how strategic communications, media engagement, and public affairs influence policy, regulatory, and business outcomes. The Account Supervisor will act as a senior advisor to healthcare clients, helping them manage complex issues, find opportunities to influence conversations, and develop/execute earned media strategies. Candidates should have experience in the D.C. policy environment, relationships with national policy-focused journalists, and the ability to create compelling narratives from complex information. A strong record of securing media coverage in top-tier and emerging platforms is expected. This is a full-time role based in Washington, D.C., requiring at least three days per week in the office. Candidates must reside in the DMV metro area.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience leading earned media strategies, with a demonstrated track record of securing high-impact national and policy-focused coverage.
  • Background in supporting clients in healthcare.
  • Recent public relations agency experience advising clients on complex communications, public affairs, or policy.
  • Deep understanding of the D.C. media and policy landscape, with established, current relationships across key national, trade, and influential media outlets.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience managing integrated media programs, mentoring teams, and driving high-quality execution in fast-paced environments.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to influence and build credibility with clients, journalists, and internal stakeholders.
  • Sound judgment and ability to navigate sensitive, high-profile, and rapidly evolving issues with professionalism.
  • Currently reside in the DMV metro area.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute earned media strategies that advance client business, policy, and reputation objectives and that shape industry, policy, and public conversations.
  • Develop fresh storytelling and compelling angles that breakthrough the media ecosystem.
  • Secure top-tier media placements across print, digital, and broadcast platforms, leveraging strong relationships with reporters, editors, and producers to generate meaningful client outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong media relationships, while guiding and mentoring team members on relationship development and best practices for outreach and engagement.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, providing strategic counsel on media positioning, narrative development, spokesperson readiness, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Oversee the development of media-facing materials and messaging, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with broader communications objectives.
  • Counsel clients through reputational, issues management, and crisis communications situations by providing guidance on risk mitigation, rapid response, and media engagement.
  • Measure and communicate the impact of earned media efforts, using insights to refine strategy and demonstrate business and policy outcomes.
  • Contribute to the evolution of RH Strategic’s earned media approach – identify new channels, platforms, and opportunities to engage influential audiences.
