About The Position

Organically Grown Company (OGC), the Northwest’s largest independent distributor of fresh, organic produce, is hiring an Account Representative. OGC operates 24-7, and the Sales department has a big responsibility to provide top tier service to our customers. Our Account Rep is recognized and appreciated by our customers, coworkers and community for their role in the organic food supply chain, and we want you to be part of our team! As an Account Representative you are responsible for helping our accounts meet their objectives by providing exceptional customer care, introducing new products and being a key partner in providing store level consultation on organic produce and trade movement.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of proven experience in produce sales.
  • Experience with fresh produce varieties, organic trade, growing practices, sustainability movement and produce merchandising.
  • Experience increasing sales volume for assigned accounts.
  • Experience with produce pricing and promotions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills are required to work effectively with all levels of OGC coworkers and customers.
  • Ability to build long-lasting and meaningful relationships with stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Analytical skills and ability to work with large data sets and to complete business documentation.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and manage multiple conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office solutions and ability to learn other systems.

  • Experience working with produce at farm, distribution, or retail levels.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the sales planning and purchasing functions to keep an effective and timely flow of communication about account needs and product availability.
  • Act as a key relationship manager on medium to large accounts, which may include negotiation, understanding of customer goals, pricing, promotional work and setting ad items.
  • Maintain or increase sales volumes by providing accounts with personalized service and enhancing OGC’s reputation for reliable quality and service. Enhance business from existing accounts and through partnerships. Assist in developing new business by identifying new contacts and providing reporting information on potential accounts.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of OGC’s products, quality, pack, promotions, substitutions, pricing and services to be able to match products to account needs and increase sales volume.
  • Proactively provide guidance and recommendations to Sales Manager on innovations, market trends, opportunities or risks. Alert the team of inventory issues or concerns as they occur and demonstrate responsibility for inventory.
  • Manage order accuracy and solve service problems.
  • Provide basic account reporting, data and analysis related to account business reviews.
  • Make regular visits to assigned accounts to assess customer satisfaction with price, products and service. Assist with in-store samplings, store staff training, setting up displays and merchandizing.
  • Process credit requests, determine reason for loss and inform purchasing and quality teams issues.
