About The Position

Rubber Inc. is a long-standing warehouse distribution company serving the automotive, commercial, and off-road industries. Since 1939, the company has supplied customers with tools, equipment, tire repair materials, and related products through multiple distribution centers across the United States. We are currently seeking an Account Manager to support business growth throughout the Birmingham, Alabama market. This outside sales role is responsible for managing existing customer relationships, developing new accounts, and increasing overall sales performance within the assigned territory. The ideal candidate is a driven sales professional with strong relationship-building skills, experience in outside sales, and the ability to work independently while delivering exceptional customer service.

Requirements

  • Previous outside sales and cold-calling experience required
  • Demonstrated success achieving or exceeding sales goals
  • Strong prospecting and business development abilities
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional customer relationships
  • Professional appearance and customer-focused attitude
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the territory (approximately 2,800–3,800 miles monthly)
  • Strong computer proficiency and organizational skills
  • Basic math and order-processing abilities
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and follow-through

Nice To Haves

  • 3–5 years of sales experience in automotive or related industries preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage and expand a portfolio of customers throughout the assigned territory
  • Build and maintain a productive sales route through regular in-person customer visits
  • Evaluate customer needs and recommend appropriate products and solutions
  • Prospect and develop new business opportunities through outreach and networking
  • Support customers with inventory management and customized purchasing solutions
  • Promote new products and services to current and prospective clients
  • Process orders and contribute to overall territory sales growth
  • Maintain accurate CRM records for leads, customer interactions, and sales activity
  • Work collaboratively with vendors to provide product support and customer education
  • Partner with regional leadership to identify growth opportunities and solve operational challenges
  • Deliver responsive customer service and effectively address objections or concerns
