Requirements

  • 4-year undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 3 years of sales experience minimum
  • Knowledge and experience in packaging
  • 3+ years of experience in sales, account management, commercial strategy, or business analytics in a B2B environment.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen; advanced Excel skills required.
  • Demonstrated experience developing account plans, market strategies, and customer proposals.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams through data, insight, and expertise.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed organization.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and maintains updated account plans for major accounts and prospective accounts within the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Implements and coordinates activities relative to each account plan and monitors each plan for effectiveness.
  • Utilizes CRM daily to manage and track sales calls, leads, opportunities, and sales activities, ensuring customer data is up-to-date.
  • Provides progress reports on account plans to the immediate supervisor.
  • Monitors customer and prospective customer activities, reporting on expansions, closings, business trends, and factors impacting volume.
  • Performs margin analysis for all customer deals (existing and new), understanding market pricing versus Sonoco pricing within acceptable margin limits.
  • Maintains detailed customer files including share, relative quality, relative price, specifications, contacts, and competitor information.
  • Establishes and maintains multi-level contacts at all major existing and prospective accounts.
  • Seeks out and promotes new product and service offerings, as well as new uses for existing product lines and potential acquisition candidates.
  • Provides sales projections for products and customers within the assigned area of responsibility for sales budgets and forecasting.
  • Investigates and resolves customer complaints promptly and accurately.
  • Assists division marketing with trade shows, conventions, and trade association meetings as requested.
  • Stays abreast of current selling techniques and continuously improves product knowledge and market knowledge.
  • Serves as coordinator for regional accounts as requested by management.
  • Champions new products and services as requested for the region and/or the division.
  • Submits expense reports, reports of call, and itineraries on a weekly basis, and all other reports on schedule.
  • Promotes company goodwill and maintains proper relationships with customers and prospective customers.
  • Protects assets, confidential and restricted information, developments, specifications, materials, legal obligations, and other such data in contacts with external parties.
  • Complies with all company policies.
