This role is for an Outside Sales Representative focused on New Business Development within the Northeast territory, specifically covering Western Massachusetts and Western New York. While remote, candidates must reside near or within the assigned territories. The role requires up to 50% travel to manage and grow the secondary market. Greif is expanding its sales team and seeking a driven professional to accelerate growth, build relationships, create new business opportunities, and deliver profitable growth. This is a hunter role focused on being in front of customers, uncovering opportunities, and winning new business, while also maintaining and growing existing accounts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Typically requires 4–8 years of sales, business development, or account management experience.
  • Experience using CRM systems to manage pipeline development, forecasting, and customer relationships.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen with demonstrated pricing and negotiation capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with executive-level presence.
  • Ability to analyze sales, market, and customer data to identify growth opportunities and develop action plans.
  • Strong relationship-building and consultative selling skills.
  • Proven ability to influence decision-makers and close complex sales opportunities.
  • Collaborative approach to working with Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, Customer Service, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-directed and accountable with a strong focus on results and execution.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote, territory-based sales environment.
  • Candidates must reside near or within the assigned territories (Western Massachusetts or Western New York).

Nice To Haves

  • Industrial packaging experience is a plus.
  • Experience in industrial packaging, manufacturing, distribution, or related industrial markets is preferred.
  • Demonstrated record of meeting or exceeding sales goals and business development objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Own a defined territory and deliver revenue, volume, and margin objectives through disciplined opportunity management.
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans for key customers and prospects.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities to expand market share and achieve sales targets.
  • Maintain and grow existing customer relationships while identifying opportunities for increased profitability and share of wallet.
  • Create, present, and negotiate customer proposals, pricing agreements, and commercial terms.
  • Execute repricing actions for underperforming accounts when necessary to improve profitability.
  • Forecast monthly and quarterly sales performance with accuracy and proactively manage pipeline activity.
  • Coordinate customer visits, plant tours, product trials, and technical consultations to support business development efforts.
  • Collaborate with Inside Sales, Customer Service, Operations, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Utilize CRM tools to manage sales pipeline, account activity, forecasting, and opportunity tracking.
  • Monitor and address service, quality, and delivery issues while driving timely resolution through internal partnerships.
  • Build relationships across customer organizations, including purchasing, operations, and executive leadership teams.
  • Champion safety, compliance, and company values during all customer and internal interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
