About The Position

The Account Manager, Employee Benefits plays a critical role in managing and servicing group employee benefits accounts for businesses. This individual is responsible for building and maintaining strong client relationships, ensuring the delivery of exceptional service, and coordinating all aspects of plan administration. In addition, the Account Manager, Employee Benefits contributes to client retention and satisfaction through proactive communication and policy reviews and assists in growing the book of business through service and working with internal sales team to effectively provide solutions to meet and exceed client needs.

Requirements

  • A B.S. or B.A. degree in a related field strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of two (2) years account management or related insurance role is normally required.
  • Active Life & Health Insurance License required.
  • Experience using Applied Epic or similar client relationship management system strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of group health, dental, vision, life, disability, and voluntary benefit plans; familiarity with benefits compliance regulations; excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with agency management systems; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach with hands or arms, use hands to manipulate objects, handle or feel, and lift items weighing 40 lbs. or less; visual, auditory and speaking skills; valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for assigned employee benefits clients, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Manages complex accounts and high-level service deliverables.
  • Conducts needs assessments, analyzes information, determines possible options.
  • Coordinates with insurance carriers to facilitate the implementation of new plans, renewals, and changes.
  • Serves in an advisory capacity for clients; advises clients in cost management while offering competitive benefit options.
  • Manages the renewal process including gathering quotes, analyzing plan options, and preparing client presentations.
  • Assists clients with day-to-day service needs such as enrollments, terminations, COBRA administration, billing issues, and claims assistance.
  • Educates and guides clients on benefit plan offerings, trends, and legislative changes.
  • Participates in client meetings and open enrollment presentations as needed.
  • Assists in growing the book of business through cross-sale opportunities when available.
  • Assists customers in obtaining specialized services from other company departments as necessary; provides help to customers with specific inquiries or service problems.
  • Processes renewals and remarkets, as needed.
  • Verifies coverage status processes, as appropriate.
  • Generates documents and produces correspondence to satisfy client service requests.
  • Prepares summaries of insurance.
  • Processes incoming mail requests and responds promptly and appropriately.
  • Schedules agency/client inspections and pictures as needed.
  • Verifies accuracy of all direct bill cancellation notices and take appropriate action.
  • Maintains orderly electronic files and information, following agency standards.
