About The Position

This role supports Commercial Underwriting in the sales acquisition process. It involves providing support for new business and renewal policy account coordination, review, essential services, rating, and preparing work orders for quoting and issuance of middle market business. The Account Manager serves as the primary point of contact for agents, handling inquiries and requests, and communicates with customers to request necessary information and resolve problems. The position requires handling high volumes of transactions, balancing quality and timeliness, and working closely with the Underwriter to manage a Book of Business. It also involves multi-tasking, prioritizing daily work activities, and organizing work based on AM/UW Huddles, recognition of Top Agents, and territorial differences.

Requirements

  • Prior Commercial Market Insurance Industry experience as an Account Manager, Underwriting Assistant, Rater (or similar) at an insurance carrier/agency.
  • Knowledge of the following primary insurance coverage’s: Workers Compensation, Auto, General Liability, Property.
  • Functional knowledge of Commercial Lines rating experience.
  • Intermediate Excel Skills: V-Lookups, sums, sorting/filtering, columns.
  • Strong Customer Service and Relationship Building skills.
  • Effective Communication Skills / Written and Verbal.
  • Good automation skills and strong technical ability.
  • Professional Demeanor.
  • Works Autonomously.
  • Ability to shift work efforts quickly and make decisions in a fast past environment.
  • Understand and Support Organizational Vision and Strategy and Embrace Change.

  • Internet provider supplied modem/router/gateway is hardwired to The Hartford issued computer with an ethernet cable.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Underwriter in the sales acquisition process.
  • Provide support for new business and renewal policy account coordination, review, essential services, rating, and preparing work orders for quoting and issuance of middle market business.
  • Serve as the point of contact for agents in handling inquiries and requests.
  • Communicate with customers to request needed information and resolve problems.
  • Review, prepare work orders for rating and issuing policies.
  • Apply screening criteria in accordance with guidelines.
  • Support sales efforts and strategies.
  • Handle high volumes of transactions.
  • Effectively balance quality and timeliness while working alongside the Underwriter to Manage a Book of Business.
  • Multi-task, prioritize and manage daily work activities.
  • Organize work, based on AM/UW Huddles, recognition of Top Agents, and territorial differences, so that others can easily determine what needs to be done and effectively continue the work and respond to customers as needed.
  • Maintain an effective pending/diary/follow-up system.
  • Attend Regional Office Meetings to understand priorities of the Office and work hand in hand with the Underwriter to achieve Regional Office Goals.
