About The Position

As an Account Executive, you will be a key member of the regional sales team, serving as the primary representative of Newsela in the small-to-medium business market. Your responsibilities will include cultivating relationships with key decision-makers in school districts and selling Newsela's product suite to enhance reading engagement in classrooms. Daily tasks involve pipeline management, forecasting, designing lead generation campaigns, and managing the sales process from start to finish. You will also develop a deep understanding of your territory's funding, state initiatives, demographics, and the broader K-12 education landscape to inform your sales strategy. While this is a remote position, it primarily covers the Eastern U.S. (and select Central) regions. Candidates in the Eastern Time Zone are highly preferred, but US-based applicants with prior East Coast K-12 EdTech SaaS sales experience and full availability during Eastern and Central Time school district hours are welcome.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of full-cycle (prospecting through closing) K-12 EdTech SaaS sales experience specifically within East Coast states.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding quotas.
  • US candidates located outside Eastern Time Zone must have prior East Coast K-12 EdTech SaaS sales experience and full availability to work Eastern (and select Central) school district hours.
  • Demonstrated experience as a strategic territory manager with the executive presence to lead consultative district conversations, navigating multiple stakeholders, and engineering the right solution for each customer.
  • Experience with high-volume district sales, with proven experience building a book of business from scratch.
  • A self-starter with a proven ability to drive sales quickly to a close and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organized, adaptable to change, a fast learner who hits the ground running, maintains high service standards, and meets established sales goals in an agile environment.
  • Excited by opportunities to connect face-to-face to meet with customers and prospects.
  • Experiencing using AI tools to drive greater efficiency and productivity.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as an ELA or Social Studies teacher/instructional coach (or a strong grasp of K-12 pedagogy) preferred to truly help connect classroom challenges to the solutions Newsela is building.

Responsibilities

  • Own your territory and manage the entire lifecycle of a sale.
  • Build new business relationships that bring Newsela’s solutions to classrooms.
  • Develop territory business plans, evaluate funding landscapes, and tailor sales strategies to align with district initiatives.
  • Achieve revenue targets.
  • Work with a cross-functional team to drive Newsela’s growth.
  • Meet in-person with school and district leaders to present solutions, negotiate terms, and secure agreements.
  • Have a direct impact on the expansion and adoption of Newsela products.
  • Represent the company in the market, make recommendations that impact strategy and results, and manage priorities independently.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment on matters of significance, including evaluating customer needs, structuring tailored solutions, negotiating within established guidelines, and influencing revenue and business outcomes.
