About The Position

We're looking for a driven, mission-oriented Account Executive to grow Slack's footprint across state government agencies nationwide. In this role, you'll own a national portfolio of state accounts, driving new logo acquisition and expanding existing relationships across agencies spanning all 50 states — from Departments of Finance & Administration and HHS to DOT, Labor, Treasury, and beyond. You'll work at the intersection of enterprise software and public sector transformation — helping agencies modernize how they work with AI-powered communication and collaboration.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of enterprise SaaS sales experience with state or local government customers
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder procurement cycles across multiple states
  • Familiarity with government compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, CJIS, GovCloud) a strong plus
  • Experience selling collaboration, productivity, or platform solutions preferred
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% nationally
  • Strong executive presence and ability to build trust with both technical and non-technical decision-makers
  • Self-starter who thrives in a matrixed environment and can lead cross-functional deal teams
  • Consistent track record of meeting or exceeding quota

Responsibilities

  • Own and grow a national state government territory, managing a mix of net new and expansion opportunities from prospecting through close
  • Build and execute multi-stakeholder account plans that align Slack Enterprise+ solutions to agency missions and budget cycles
  • Travel nationally (~50% of the time) to engage agency leadership, attend key state government events, and deepen executive relationships on the ground
  • Partner closely with Core AEs, SEs, and solution teams to develop territory strategy and integrated Salesforce + Slack plays
  • Navigate state procurement processes, contract vehicles (e.g., Carahsoft, NASPO), and compliance requirements including FedRAMP, CJIS, and Government Cloud
  • Develop and maintain executive relationships across CIOs, agency directors, and IT leadership
  • Accurately forecast pipeline and deliver against quarterly and annual quota targets
  • Collaborate with field marketing to activate state government summits, NGA events, NASCIO, and executive briefings
