About The Position

This position involves owning assigned customer relationships and driving sales growth, item and category penetration, and profitability for those relationships. The Account Executive coordinates and leads the efforts of the Customer Service Representative and Account Coordinator to form a unified sales team, ensuring optimal account service and alignment with customer contracts. The role requires a sustained record of sales achievement and comprehensive knowledge of the organization's policies, products, and services.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of three years of sales or distribution experience required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Customer service and presentation abilities.
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business/Marketing preferred.
  • Foodservice industry or related experience preferred.
  • Experience in restaurant operations desirable.
  • Experience using quantitative & qualitative research data will be helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain existing accounts through systematic personal visits and follow-up.
  • Achieve annual sales plan through growth and penetration of existing accounts.
  • Present new ideas and products from primary vendors and exclusive brand products to secure account penetration and loyalty.
  • Manage product mix to maximize profit goals and ensure contract compliance.
  • Communicate with customers informally and through periodic, formal Business Reviews to apprise them of mutual performance, new products, programs, and market trends.
  • Be ultimately responsible for the results of the sales team (Account Coordinator and Customer Service Representatives) actions relative to assigned accounts.
  • Lead the sales team to ensure optimum service to accounts, including coordination with operational and purchasing functions as needed.
  • Lead the sales team to maximize Account Executive time spent with customers.
  • Lead the sales team to meet or exceed accounts receivable currency targets, coordinating with central AR as needed.
  • Lead the sales team to review all accounts to ensure program compliance, develop unique sales approaches, identify needs, and expand sales.
  • Lead the sales team to maintain a profile on all accounts, including order guides, statements, periodicals, and overall reporting.
  • Verify pricing information to ensure correctness.
  • Attend Sales Meetings, Training Sessions, Food Shows, and Conferences as deemed necessary by Management and Customer requirements.
  • Set-up and support the rollout of new accounts as assigned.
