About The Position

The Sun Life Account Executive Development Program (AEDP) is a new graduate rotational training program designed to prepare individuals for a dynamic sales career as a Sun Life Account Executive. This two-year program involves two rotations, allowing participants to accelerate and deepen their understanding of the group benefits business. Throughout the program, participants will receive personalized learning opportunities and coaching from the Program Manager and business leaders. Sun Life is committed to employee health and well-being, offering comprehensive health solutions and industry-leading products. The Account Executive role is a client-facing position responsible for the profitable management of a group benefits portfolio, involving external client and advisor meetings, relationship building, and delivering an exceptional client experience. Participants will work in an innovative financial and insurance organization focused on technology and sustainability, learn from industry experts, and collaborate with participants from other elite rotational programs.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be in their graduating year or completing their final year in an accredited undergraduate program.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Balanced experiences in academics and extra-curricular activities and volunteer work.
  • Willingness to relocate within your hired region in Canada (Eastern, Western or Central) for placement of an Account Executive position.
  • A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
  • Bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only.

Responsibilities

  • Advance through two rotations over two years to accelerate and deepen knowledge of the group benefits business.
  • Receive individualized learning opportunities and coaching from the Program Manager and Business leaders.
  • Partner with the Account Executive team to build and maintain Advisor relationships within the small business market (SunAdvantage).
  • Jointly responsible for retaining existing business by ensuring needs and expectations are met or exceeded.
  • Discuss issues related to Group Benefits and develop/maintain a strong knowledge of Sun Life products and services.
  • Engage in development conversations with the dedicated Program Manager to facilitate role placement.
  • Meet or exceed needs and expectations of clients and advisors.
  • Build strong business relationships with external clients and advisors.
  • Deliver an exceptional client experience.
  • Work at an innovative Financial and Insurance organization that focuses on technology and sustainability.
  • Learn from industry experts and apply skills directly into the Account Executive role.
  • Collaborate with participants from Sun Life’s other elite rotational programs.
  • Be responsible for risk selection and pricing of Group Life, Disability, Health, Dental and Critical Illness benefits (as Group Underwriter).
  • Renew existing business, provide pricing and advice on plan change requests and revisions, and assess new business opportunities (as Group Underwriter).
  • Build strong relationships with the sales team, working in partnership to sell renewals and quotations and handle inquiries (as Group Underwriter).
