About The Position

The Account Executive will focus on building strong client relationships while proactively identifying and pursuing new business opportunities. In this role, you will manage and grow a specialty book of business focused on Commercial Transportation Risk, while also working on businesses of all sizes. This role will be based out of our Surrey 128th Street location. This is a high-impact, client-facing role suited for someone who combines deep technical underwriting knowledge with genuine sales ability. This role will own relationships with trucking operators, freight brokers, logistics companies, and warehouse operators, delivering tailored solutions that protect their operations from end to end. Requirements

  • 5+ years of commercial insurance experience, with meaningful exposure to motor truck cargo, inland marine, or transportation lines strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience in sales process and account management
  • Level 2 General Insurance License
  • Recognized industry certification preferred (CAIB, CIP, CRM, BCIT Risk Management, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Prospect, quote, and bind commercial insurance programs with a focus on ICBC prorate, ICBC fleets, motor truck cargo (MTC), cargo liability, contingent cargo, freight broker legal liability, warehouse legal liability, inland marine coverages, and general liablity.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments, evaluating commodity types, haul routes, loading/unloading practices, carrier safety records (CVI/NSC), packaging standards, and loss history to structure appropriate coverage solutions.
  • Manage and grow an existing book of transportation and commercial lines business, delivering proactive service, renewal strategy, and coverage reviews.
  • Identify and appropriately structure coverage for high-value shipments, specialty commodities (refrigerated goods, hazardous materials, high-theft items), and cargo risk accumulations.
  • Monitor MTC loss trends, cargo theft patterns, and transportation industry developments to provide proactive client guidance and identify new business opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong broker-market relationships to negotiate competitive terms for complex and specialty risks.
  • Generate new business revenue by leveraging referrals, networking, and targeted outreach to trucking associations, logistics firms, freight brokers, and supply chain businesses in the Lower Mainland and coastal trading area.
  • Manage policy endorsements, cancellations, and modifications accurately while maintaining documentation and compliance across applicable BC regulatory requirements.
  • Attend client meetings, industry events, and HUB company meetings as required.
  • Continue professional development to remain current on available coverages, market trends, and regulatory changes.
