About The Position

Are you detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about supporting sound financial operations? We're looking for a skilled Account Clerk III to provide complex clerical and technical support in General Accounting, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, purchasing, grant awards, and special funded projects. In this role, you'll prepare and maintain both manual and automated financial records, process accounting transactions, generate reports, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of fiscal data. You'll also serve as a valuable resource to your colleagues by providing guidance, training, and mentoring to support a collaborative and efficient work environment. Requirements

  • High school diploma or successful completion of GED.
  • Three (3) years of experience in general accounting, accounts receivable/payable, and/or purchasing.
  • Advanced computer skills to include word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
  • Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Requires extensive contact with employees, vendors, and other outside agencies.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, business management or a related field of study.
  • One (1) year of procurement/purchasing experience in a governmental or private sector environment.
  • May require some local travel.
