About The Position

The Office of Accessibility Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the creation and approval of accommodation plans for all students with disabilities. The coordinator is responsible for developing and facilitating workshops, updating policies and record keeping. This position also supports the Testing Center Coordinator with testing center escalations.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree with classes in education, psychology, counseling, or related field.
  • Two years of administrative experience in an office environment.
  • One year of experience working with people with disabilities.
  • Candidates must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the USA.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor´s Degree in related field.
  • Experience working in an accessibility office in higher education.
  • Experience with student information systems or similar database systems.

Responsibilities

  • Handles day-to-day student casework, facilitates the interactive accommodation process, and double-checks compliance with federal laws like the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504.
  • Participates in student intake meetings, reviews medical or educational documentation, and determines reasonable accommodations.
  • Manages daily inquiries from students and faculty, scheduling appointments, and overseeing office records.
  • Gathers statistics and assessment data to help the Associate Director prepare annual departmental reviews and audits.
  • Refers students to campus resources and promotes a college accessible environment.
  • Creates and runs routine workshops for OAS students that educate and support executive functioning, assistive technology, self-advocacy and disability counseling.
  • Resolves faculty and student testing center escalations.
  • Acts as support for the testing center in the absence of the testing center coordinator or when additional staffing is needed.
  • Ensures the testing center’s IT infrastructure and software support required assistive technologies.
  • Arranges additional testing space when needed.
  • Supports the OAS Associate Director in creating and updating OAS policies, and procedures.
  • Communicates with students and faculty via small group trainings, workshops, orientations and website updates.
  • Facilitates Monthly Meetings with Student Accessibility Workgroup.
  • Maintains an electronic record-keeping system for students with disabilities, including confidential files on each student and the collection of aggregate data.
