About The Position

Orlando Health Hospitals is seeking motivated individuals for its Accelerated RN Student Nurse Extern Program. This program offers a unique opportunity for nursing students to gain practical experience in specialty nursing units, medical-surgical units, or progressive care units. Participants will work closely with trained preceptors in a one-on-one environment, applying their academic knowledge and building confidence as future nurses. The program aims to develop early-career talent and invest in future team members. The externship provides exposure to various nursing departments, supplementary educational sessions, and the chance to explore and apply for graduate nurse positions within the system. Externs will also have opportunities to network with nursing leadership, engage in community service, receive mentorship, and directly impact patient care. The program runs from September 4, 2026, to February 27, 2027, with a commitment of one day a week (up to 12 hours/week), following the preceptor's schedule. Preference is given to students who do not have the summer off during their nursing program. Applications are accepted through June 15, 2026.
