About The Position
Orlando Health Hospitals is seeking motivated Accelerated Senior Nurse Externs (ASNE) to join their team. This program is designed for nursing students who want to gain practical experience in a healthcare setting before graduation. ASNEs will work one 12-hour shift per week under the guidance of a trained preceptor, exposing them to various nursing departments and patient care. The program aims to build confidence, competence, and provide networking opportunities with nursing leadership, ultimately helping externs secure a graduate nurse position within Orlando Health.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Associates or Bachelor of Science in Nursing program with an expected graduation date through August 2027 required
- Candidates must have core nursing program courses and clinicals during the Summer semester
- Availability to participate in the ASNE Program from February 8th, 2027 - until graduation, one 12-hour shift a week, with minimal absence required
- Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
- Active BLS certification through end program is required

Nice To Haves
- Enrolled in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program preferred
- Preference given to students who do not have the summer off during the nursing program
Responsibilities
- Expose you to nursing departments to gain experience, confidence and competence as you enter your senior year in nursing school
- Work directly with a RN trained preceptor… 1-on-1!
- Participate in supplementary educational sessions to continue your learning journey
- Build your confidence as a future nurse
- Work at one hospital on an assigned unit (assignment shared at the time of offer)
- Work one 12 hours shift/week (Note: ASNE’s follow their preceptor’s schedule)
- Explore/apply to system-wide nursing opportunities to secure a graduate nurse position while in the program!
