About The Position

The Academics Supervisor position provides support for a U.S Department of Labor Job Corps contractor. The Job Corps program is a federally-funded residential training program. The mission of Job Corps is to provide career-ready technical and basic skills (academic) training and job placement assistance to program eligible youth ages 16-24.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field of study
  • Four years of relevant Supervisory and teaching experience
  • Valid State Driver's License

Responsibilities

  • Oversees staff members assigned to this department and ensures they have adequate training to complete key areas of responsibilities.
  • Develops and implements training plans for staff, provides documented training, and cross-trains department employees.
  • Coordinates staff meetings and ensures all staff participates in Social Skills Training.
  • Ensures department compliance with all safety standards and expectations, including proper worker’s compensation reporting.
  • Ensures department compliance with all DOL, Corporate, and Center requirements.
  • Ensures that staff members meet the standards and expectations of the Department of Labor, Corporate and Center policies.
  • Ensures the Center’s Academic program delivers quality services to students for their growth and development in all Career Success Standards.
  • Implements a rigorous and relevant Applied Academics program along with the Career Technical Training Supervisor.
  • Ensures that the Academic program exceeds the GED/HSD, combination completer, numeracy and literacy, and other relevant OMS goals.
  • Communicates with and updates the Career Development Services Director on the status of the program and determines educational policies according to DOL, Corporate and Center expectations.
  • Submits weekly reports outlining progress, problems, and contemplated changes in the department.
  • Meets jointly with Academic and Career Technical Training Staff to plan Applied Academics.
  • Ensures that there is a curriculum for every academic training area.
  • Ensures that lesson plans are being developed and implemented at least every other week.
