Requirements

• 2+ years professional teaching experience at a top public/private high school in your region.
• 1+ years experience educating, coaching, or working with 11-14 year-olds.
• Deep familiarity with local grade standards and curricula in your region.
• Deep familiarity with international curricula in your region (AP, IB, Cambridge, etc.).
• Experience with curriculum or lesson plan development.
• Familiarity with adolescent brain development and age-appropriate pedagogical approaches.

Responsibilities

• Analyze academic transcripts to identify strengths, gaps, and growth opportunities.
• Design and execute strategic study plans tailored to each student's needs, learning style, and academic goals.
• Deliver 1:1 tutoring across core courses (mathematics, science, humanities, social sciences) while building foundational study skills.
• Adapt instruction to multiple curricula and grade standards based on student location.
• Collaborate with Rise Strategists to ensure tutoring aligns with the student's broader roadmap.
• Communicate progress clearly and regularly with parents and the student's strategy team.
• Review student reports and assessments to diagnose academic strengths and weaknesses.
• Create customized study plans that address skill gaps and accelerate growth.
• Set short-term and long-term academic goals with measurable outcomes.
• Design learning pathways that prepare students for advanced coursework and competitive academic programs.
• Teach organization and time management techniques.
• Teach note-taking and active reading strategies.
• Teach test preparation and exam strategies.
• Teach memory techniques and retention methods.
• Foster self-advocacy and learning ownership.
• Promote a growth mindset and academic confidence.
• Provide subject-specific tutoring in Mathematics, Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics), English Language & Literature, and History, Culture, & Social Studies for students up to Grade 8.
• Develop critical reading, writing, and analytical thinking skills.
