Higher Ground Youth and Family Services provides after-school programming for elementary and secondary students in Anaheim, California. Many of the students served come from under-resourced communities and benefit from individualized academic support that supplements their school-day learning. Through this partnership, Chapman University students will be placed as tutors within the after-school program to provide homework help, academic enrichment, and mentoring. The program aims to improve academic outcomes for K-12 students while providing Chapman undergraduates with valuable pre-professional experience in education and youth development. This position supports community residents by helping maintain welcoming spaces and strengthen programs that respond to community needs. Through this work, the role will help ensure that essential services and resources are accessible and contribute to residents’ quality of life.
