About The Position

Huntington Learning Center of San Ramon Valley is hiring a Reading and Writing Tutor to help elementary, middle, and high school students strengthen their reading, writing, grammar, and communication skills. This is an excellent part-time, onsite opportunity for teachers, substitute teachers, retired educators, graduate students, and professionals with strong English, reading, or writing backgrounds who enjoy working with students.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Strong reading, writing, grammar, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to explain academic concepts clearly and patiently.
• Comfortable working with children and teenagers.
• Dependable, professional, and engaging personality.
• Availability for approximately 10–15 hours per week , primarily during weekday evenings and/or Saturdays.
• Ability to work onsite at our Danville learning center.

Nice To Haves

• Previous teaching, tutoring, education, or subject-matter experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Work one-on-one and/or in small groups with students in elementary, middle, and high school.
• Help students improve reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and communication skills.
• Follow Huntington's established curriculum and instructional materials.
• Explain concepts clearly and patiently while adapting your approach to individual students.
• Encourage students and help them build confidence and measurable academic progress.
• Maintain a positive, professional, and supportive learning environment.
