About The Position

The Academic Technology Operations Coordinator, under direction, routinely manages large, complex academic technology projects and operations that support the University’s academic mission, teaching, learning, and innovative technology environments. The position coordinates academic technology operations across classrooms, conference spaces, digital learning environments, and other institutional facilities. Collaborates with academic leadership, the Institutional Facilities Project Manager, Campus Operations, ITS, campus stakeholders, and external partners to plan and implement innovative, accessible, and technology-enabled learning environments. Performs limited specialized technical duties while advancing operational excellence, emerging technologies, and continuous improvement in support of the University’s academic community within the Division of Academic Affairs.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Three Years of Related Experience
Knowledge of academic and instructional technology operations, including classroom A/V systems, digital learning spaces, conference technology, digital signage, and emerging technologies.
Knowledge of project and operations management principles, including project scope, schedules, milestones, resource allocation, risk management, budgeting, and project delivery.
Knowledge of audio-visual and classroom technology systems, integration practices, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and technology lifecycle management.
Knowledge of IT service management practices, including incident response, service delivery, performance metrics, continuous improvement, and ITIL principles.
Knowledge of technology procurement and vendor management, including product evaluation, selection, purchasing, implementation, and coordination with external partners.
Knowledge of IT security, institutional compliance, and digital accessibility requirements applicable to higher education technology environments.
Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and emerging technology trends, including responsible, ethical, accessible, and human-centered applications of AI in academic and operational environments.
Knowledge of standard productivity applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, documentation, reporting, and data analysis tools.
Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple complex technology initiatives simultaneously.
Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills related to academic technology, A/V systems, and technology-enabled learning and work environments.
Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to evaluate operational needs, service metrics, technology solutions, and resource requirements.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information effectively to faculty, staff, administrators, vendors, and other stakeholders.

Ability to manage and coordinate complex academic technology operations across classrooms, conference spaces, digital signage environments, satellite locations, and institutional learning and workforce environments.
Ability to work closely with the Institutional Facilities Project Manager to coordinate academic technology requirements within renovation, construction, infrastructure, and learning-space improvement projects.
Ability to collaborate effectively with institutional stakeholders, including academic leadership, Campus Operations, Facilities, ITS, Event Planning, faculty, staff, external vendors, and other campus partners.
Ability to coordinate technology requirements with stakeholders throughout project planning, design, implementation, installation, testing, and completion.
Ability to plan, prioritize, and deliver multiple academic technology and A/V projects within established scope, timelines, budgets, and institutional requirements.
Ability to assess academic technology needs and recommend scalable, sustainable, accessible, and innovative solutions aligned with institutional priorities.
Ability to communicate technical requirements, project expectations, timelines, risks, and operational needs effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to respond effectively to technology incidents, changing priorities, project requirements, and operational demands while maintaining high-quality service.
Ability to analyze operational and service data to improve processes, resource allocation, preventative maintenance, technology lifecycle planning, and customer experience.

Responsibilities

Collaborates with the Center for Academic Technology team to promote innovative approaches and support high-quality service delivery across instructional technology, academic classrooms, audio-visual systems, digital learning spaces, and institutional workforce innovation environments.
Directs day-to-day operations of academic technology services across classrooms, conference spaces, digital signage, satellite locations, and workforce innovation environments.
Oversees operational processes and service delivery models, including preventative maintenance, incident response, and technology lifecycle management.
Serves as the primary point of contact for academic technology operations, providing consultation, issue resolution, and support for faculty, staff, and campus partners.
Develops, implements, and maintains standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency, compliance, and operational effectiveness.
Cultivates collaborative partnerships with campus leadership, Campus Operations, ITS, Event Planning, Facilities, and external vendors to support integrated technology solutions.
Leads and collaborates in the coordination, prioritization, and execution of work with Campus Operations, establishing service expectations, schedules, and resource allocations.
Manages the planning and implementation of academic technology initiatives, including classroom technology upgrades, AV integrations, and emerging technology deployments.
Applies formal project management methodologies to define scope, timelines, milestones, risks, and resource requirements, ensuring successful project delivery.
Administers budgets in collaboration with Center for Academic Technology leadership and coordinates the procurement, evaluation, selection, and deployment of instructional and AV technologies.
Ensures fiscal responsibility, resource optimization, and alignment with institutional priorities and standards.
Advances the integration and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within academic technology operations, supporting AI-enabled teaching and learning tools, service automation, and data-informed decision-making.
Promotes human-centered, ethical, accessible, and compliant AI practices aligned with institutional priorities and emerging higher education trends.
Monitors service metrics and implements continuous improvement strategies to enhance operational efficiency and user experience.
Promotes ongoing professional development and continuous learning related to emerging technologies, accessibility requirements, AI-enabled teaching and learning, and workforce innovation environments.
Identifies and supports innovative solutions that enhance teaching, learning, collaboration, and institutional effectiveness.
Ability to perform primarily office-based work with periodic work in academic classrooms, conference rooms, learning spaces, and other campus facilities.
Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and move throughout campus facilities as necessary to coordinate academic technology operations and projects.
Ability to operate computers, A/V equipment, control systems, and other standard academic technology equipment.
Ability to visually inspect academic technology and A/V installations and identify operational or equipment issues.
Ability to occasionally move, position, or assist with technology equipment and related materials in accordance with institutional safety practices.
Ability to travel between buildings and institutional locations as necessary to inspect projects, coordinate installations, and support academic technology operations.
Ability to work in active construction, renovation, classroom, and technology installation environments when coordinating projects with the Center for Academic Technology Leadership, Team, Institutional Facilities Project Manager, contractors, vendors, and campus stakeholders.
Must maintain a customer-service-oriented, collaborative, and professional approach when working with faculty, staff, administrators, students, contractors, vendors, and institutional stakeholders.
Must be able to coordinate and prioritize multiple academic technology projects, operational needs, and service requests in a dynamic higher education environment.
Must work collaboratively with the Center for Academic Technology Leadership, Team, Institutional Facilities Project Manager, Campus Operations, Facilities, ITS, Event Planning, academic units, external vendors, and other institutional stakeholders on technology-related projects and initiatives.
Must be able to work across academic classrooms, conference spaces, digital learning environments, satellite locations, and institutional workforce environments as operational and project needs require.
May require occasional work outside normal business hours to support technology implementations, scheduled maintenance, upgrades, installations, projects, or time-sensitive operational needs.
Must demonstrate sound judgment and professionalism when handling institutional technology resources, operational information, project documentation, budgets, and vendor relationships.
Must maintain current knowledge of academic technology, A/V systems, accessibility requirements, cybersecurity considerations, Artificial Intelligence, and emerging higher education technology trends.
Must participate in ongoing professional development and continuous learning relevant to academic technology operations, project management, accessibility, and emerging technologies.
Must adhere to applicable University, Texas A&M University System, information technology, safety, accessibility, procurement, and security policies and procedures.
Must be able to adapt to changing institutional priorities, technology environments, project requirements, and operational demands while maintaining timely and high-quality service.
