About The Position

The University of Central Florida (UCF) is seeking Academic Success Coaches (ASCs) to join the Division of Student Success and Well-Being (SSWB). This role combines academic advising and academic coaching to support undergraduate students throughout their academic journey. The SSWB aims to foster academic success, retention, and timely degree attainment through a holistic, student-centered approach. The ASC will manage a caseload of students, utilizing coaching methodologies and case management to guide them, and collaborate with other university offices to provide comprehensive support. The role involves proactive outreach, co-developing success plans, analyzing academic and personal issues, referring students to campus resources, and providing information on various aspects of university life from enrollment to graduation. The ASC will also support college-specific retention initiatives and assist leadership with recruitment and engagement programming.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 0+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
  • All applicants must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer.
  • Must reside in Florida as of the date employment begins.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in education, with a preference for higher education.
  • Experience in coaching, with a preference for student coaching.
  • Experience in and/or understanding of case management.
  • Experience with using a CRM to case manage/track student, client, or customer interactions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (e.g., MS Word and Excel) and desktop agent software (e.g., MS TEAMS).
  • Strong customer service mindset, with the ability to build positive relationships and collaborate effectively with students, colleagues, and campus partners.
  • Strong critical thinking, sound judgment, and decision-making skills when addressing student needs and concerns.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise a high degree of professionalism, integrity, and ethical responsibility.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain accurate records, and attend to details.
  • Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced, student-centered, and evolving work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a caseload/roster of students and use MyKnightStar to track engagements and progress.
  • Use relevant programs and technology to create pathways for student persistence, progression, and timely graduation.
  • Develop and implement proactive outreach services, focusing on retention and student success.
  • Empower students by co-developing success plans and helping them understand their degree requirements.
  • Analyze students' academic and personal issues and refer them to appropriate campus resources.
  • Provide accurate and timely information and coaching support from initial enrollment through program completion, covering recruitment, admissions, funding, registration, and ongoing success.
  • Utilize multiple communication methods including phone, email, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Support student retention and graduation initiatives.
  • Identify and help resolve barriers to academic success.
  • Monitor student progress and performance, analyze problem areas, determine solutions, and conduct intervention activities.
  • Function autonomously as an Academic Success Coach for relevant college programs and/or student populations.
  • Reinforce the value of coaching through ongoing student relationships.
  • Meet productivity and goal expectations set by the unit and the University.
  • Serve as an appointed representative to an academic college to support college-level retention, progression, graduation, and student success.
  • Implement strategies in partnership with the college to increase registration, enrollment, and timely graduation.
  • Assist leadership with developing and coordinating college-based recruiting, outreach, orientation, and ongoing engagement programming.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
