About The Position

The Division of Student Success and Well-Being (SSWB) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) is seeking Academic Success Coaches (ASCs). This role combines academic advising and academic coaching to support undergraduate students in achieving academic success, retention, and timely degree attainment. The ASC will manage a caseload of students, applying coaching methodologies and case management approaches. They will collaborate with other ASCs and campus support offices to provide comprehensive student care. The ASC will report centrally within the Division of Student Success and Well-Being and may be assigned to specific academic units or specialized student populations such as student-athletes or undeclared students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 0+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
  • All applicants must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer.
  • New hires selected for this position at the University of Central Florida can expect to be offered the base salary of $48,000 for the role.
  • It is UCF’s expectation that an employee of UCF will reside in Florida as of the date the employment begins.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in education, with a preference for higher education.
  • Experience in coaching, with a preference for student coaching.
  • Experience in and/or understanding of case management.
  • Experience with using a CRM to case manage/track student, client, or customer interactions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (e.g., MS Word and Excel) and desktop agent software (e.g., MS TEAMS).
  • Strong customer service mindset, with the ability to build positive relationships and collaborate effectively with students, colleagues, and campus partners.
  • Strong critical thinking, sound judgment, and decision-making skills when addressing student needs and concerns.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise a high degree of professionalism, integrity, and ethical responsibility.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain accurate records, and attend to details.
  • Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced, student-centered, and evolving work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a case load/roster of students and use MyKnightStar to track and monitor engagements and progress.
  • Use relevant programs and technology to create pathways for persistence, progression, and timely graduation.
  • Develop and implement proactive outreach services to students, focusing on retention and success.
  • Provide holistic support by co-developing success plans with students and empowering them to understand their degree requirements.
  • Analyze students' academic and personal issues and refer them to appropriate campus resources.
  • Provide accurate and timely information and coaching support from initial enrollment through program completion, covering areas like admissions, funding, program requirements, registration, and disability resources.
  • Utilize multiple communication methods including phone, email, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Support student retention and graduation initiatives by identifying and resolving barriers to academic success.
  • Monitor student progress, analyze problem areas, determine solutions, and conduct intervention activities.
  • Function autonomously as an Academic Success Coach for relevant college programs and/or student populations.
  • Reinforce the value of coaching through ongoing student relationships.
  • Meet productivity and goal expectations set by the unit and the University.
  • Serve as an appointed representative to an academic college, performing duties related to retention, progression, graduation, and student success.
  • Implement strategies in partnership with the college to increase registration, enrollment, and timely graduation.
  • Assist leadership with developing and coordinating college-based recruiting, outreach, orientation, and ongoing engagement programming.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
