About The Position

Florida Polytechnic University, a premier institution focused exclusively on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), is seeking exceptional candidates to join its team as an Academic Success Coach (ASC). The ASC will play a crucial role in supporting student academic success and personal growth through dedicated curricular advising and guidance. This position involves working directly with students in both one-on-one and group settings, focusing on academic coaching, clarifying university policies, and assisting students in their transition to university life. A key responsibility of the ASC is to connect students with the diverse range of campus resources and support services available to them. The role requires active engagement through in-person drop-in sessions and scheduled meetings with students.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree, or a Bachelor’s degree
  • Two years of relevant experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
  • Proven personal initiative, problem-solving skills, and customer service etiquette.
  • Disposition and proven work ethic to handle busy work cycles that may include evenings and weekends.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • This position requires a criminal background check, which may include a Level II screening as required by Florida Statute §435.04.
  • This position is subject to federal and state privacy regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in planning student educational activities and an ability to understand the importance of course sequences and semester course loadings that directly impact student success and progress toward a degree.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience in higher education preferred.
  • Experience working with university students in an advising capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with students on campus and provide connections to appropriate campus resources and support services based on individual needs.
  • Guide students individually and/or in groups regarding goal setting, campus resources, academic policies, and procedures.
  • Develop and host collaborative programming that enhances the full student experience and supports engagement and retention.
  • Coach students in building key skills such as time management, student strategies, communication and self-advocacy.
  • Conduct outreach and early interventions for students of concern, providing ongoing motivation, accountability, and guidance to help students persist and overcome challenges.
  • Connect with students through multiple communication channels: in-person, virtual, phone, email, and written.
  • Other duties as assigned.
