The Academic Success Center Writing Tutor helps students across St. Olaf College meet their academic writing goals. Tutors staff the Writing Desk, meet with the Writing Desk team, and develop writing resources. The position involves working with students at any stage of the writing process, from interpreting assignments and planning through organizing, drafting, preparing works cited pages, and final editing. Tutoring is process-oriented, focusing on supporting the writer rather than producing a particular written product. The role is suited to careful, thoughtful readers, empathetic listeners, and reflective writers. The position requires a commitment of 6–8 hours per week. Tutors participate in training, document each tutoring session in WCOnline, contribute to team projects during desk downtime, and maintain prompt, open communication with their supervisor. The job description is general and may be changed by St. Olaf College.
