About The Position

The Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) Academic Success Advisor is responsible for the development and implementation of all academic advising for NCSD students participating in the Natrona County BOCES ACE (Accelerated College Education) program. The Advisor provides professional advising and academic coaching to promote effective selection of college courses for transfer of academic credit and to make progress toward a relevant college certificate or degree.

Requirements

  • A Master’s Degree in school or mental health counseling, psychology, social work, education, student affairs or other closely related field OR a Bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, education, social work or other closely related field plus two years of professional experience in a student-facing role in a high school or college environment.
  • At least one year of program management experience, including managing relationships between organizations or with boards.
  • Ability to apply sound judgment and decision-making to solve complex problems
  • Valid motor vehicle license at the time of hire and must obtain a Wyoming driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
  • Must maintain insurability under the College’s insurance plan and have reliable means of transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional experience in academic advising or academic coaching at the college level
  • Experience working with student information systems (such as Ellucian Colleague or Infinite Campus), CRMs (e.g.: Slate or Element 451), or DualEnroll
  • Experience working with disadvantaged populations, first-generation college students, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Administer academic advising and career services to students taking dual and concurrent enrollment courses through the Natrona County BOCES ACE Program.
  • Provide retention support services, including general studies advising, new student advising, and academic coaching.
  • Provide onboarding education to both students and parents regarding Casper College and college-level courses.
  • Maintain regular, scheduled hours at four local high schools to provide direct student advising, while proactively establishing and fostering open lines of communication with high school counselors to align student support efforts.
  • Maintain accurate notes of students seen and duties performed; maintain appointment statistics and analyze data toward improvement of services and student outcomes.
  • Provide reports on advising/coaching/retention activities as needed to the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
  • Maintain knowledge of retention best practices, including those impacting underserved student populations.
  • Maintain knowledge of current Casper College program requirements, general education requirements, transfer issues, and various financial aid options.
  • Adhere to FERPA regulations as well as relevant policies and procedures of Casper College and BOCES.
  • Support and assist team members in the execution of prospective and current student programs, services, recruiting, and retention events.
  • Serve the broader mission of Casper College by serving on campus committees and attending relevant events.
