About The Position

Academic Psychiatrist – General Adult Psychiatry and Health Systems Division – Outpatient Services and Primary Care Collaboration Initiatives The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a full-time psychiatrist in the General Adult Psychiatry and Health Systems Division. The successful candidate must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate or full Professor at the University of Toronto. Effective start date is July 1, 2026 or shortly thereafter. Duties will include working in variety of general adult psychiatry outpatient settings and clinics with a focus on building primary care collaborations. The academic role will focus on teaching and supervision of medical students and psychiatry residents, developing quality improvement and research initiatives related to shared care models with primary care and developing prediction models for treating depression. CAMH is Canada’s premier addiction and mental health facility and a world leader in the diagnosis and care of patients with addiction and mental disorder, offering a wide spectrum of care from treatment for first episode to care for the severely and persistently mentally ill. It is fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, the largest and most prestigious research-intensive University in Canada. CAMH, together with the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto, has a strong tradition in the integration of clinical, teaching and research activities. The successful candidate will provide exemplary team-based psychiatric care for people with mood, anxiety and trauma related disorders and overall general adult psychiatry assessment. The candidate will also be expected to participate in the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs of the University of Toronto Department of Psychiatry. The applicant will have a desire to work in and contribute to an active academic environment, with a commitment and experience in teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. The candidate will have advanced research training at a graduate degree level and experience designing, implementing and analyzing clinical research in patients with mood and anxiety disorders and primary care.

Requirements

  • Applicants must hold a graduate degree and a Doctor of Medicine (MD)
  • Certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
  • Must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
  • The successful must be eligible for academic appointment in the Department of Psychiatry, at the University of Toronto.
  • English language proficiency is required.
