About The Position

The Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the Department of Psychiatry of the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre are seeking to recruit an Academic Psychiatrist with special (or specific) expertise in OCD. The successful candidate will qualify for an academic position as a Clinician-Teacher, Clinician-Educator or Clinician in Quality Improvement and must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant, Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. The successful candidate will participate fully in the clinical and academic activities of the department including the psychiatry call system and teaching program. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2026, or as mutually agreed. The Sunnybrook Department of Psychiatry is a collegial team of over 50 psychiatrists working with allied staff in a 47 bed Schedule 1 facility, including 10Youth beds (ages 14-18), 28 Adult/Geriatric beds and 9 Psychiatric ICU beds. The successful candidate is expected to have experience in treating OCD, with a track record of expertise in advanced psychopharmacotherapy and provision of CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) for treatment resistant OCD. The candidate will work alongside the Thompson Anxiety Disorders’ multi-disciplinary team in a variety of settings, including outpatient care, and the OCD intensive treatment residential service (on average, managing 2-4 severe OCD patients at any given time). The successful candidate will also bring expertise in the delivery of neuromodulatory interventions such as rTMS, DTMS, and ECT. The successful candidate will act as a liaison between the Thompson Anxiety Disorders Centre and the Harquail Centre. The successful candidate will also support or lead research initiatives in the program. A track record of excellence in teaching is necessary given the frequent presence of learners.

Requirements

  • Must hold an MD degree
  • Must be Royal College/Board Certified or Royal College/Board Eligible in Psychiatry
  • Must be eligible for medical licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
  • Candidate will have an interest and background in the field of OCD.
  • Expected to have experience in treating OCD, with a track record of expertise in advanced psychopharmacotherapy and provision of CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) for treatment resistant OCD.
  • Bring expertise in the delivery of neuromodulatory interventions such as rTMS, DTMS, and ECT.
  • A track record of excellence in teaching is necessary given the frequent presence of learners.
